Firstly - I want to Thank Chief for making this section available ASAP!

I want to open this session by bringing in some awareness and request people to talk about their or their dear one's skin problems. The topic I would like to talk about is about a disease which is very close to me called - Psoriasis
Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin condition generally having patches of raised red skin with thick silvery scales. It may be found on any part of the body.. people often experience flares and re-appearance's throughout their life. There are various types of psoriasis and unfortunately there is no cure found to this till date. This skin condition is only controllable but not curable.
1) What is the cause?
- Low Immune System; Genetics; Weather;Stress (physical & mental) ; Infection ; Skin Injury ; Drug etc..
2) What age group does this effect?
- Infants to Old aged people
3) What & how really?
- As we all have read at some point of our education, our skin rejuvenates in about 28-30 days but, for people suffering from Psoriasis this happens in 3-5days
4) Is this contagious?
- No
5) Treatment?
- Allopathy, Ayurveda, Homeopathy ( I have read Unani also helps) & Yoga
People suffering from this skin condition often experience hard to express their feelings, find partners, depression, acceptance, denial. If you are a sufferer, or you know some one who is suffering this problem - Discuss about it, mingle, be a support or ask for it, create awareness and most importantly - DO NOT treat or put yourself indifference of others, last but not the least ACCEPTANCE of others & self

I have been a sufferer of this skin condition for over 12yrs now. I have had my good days and bad. I have tried Allopathy & Ayurveda but currently into a combination of Homeopathy, herbal treatments & Yoga- Pranayama. I now very carefully watch my diet and intake more water than before.
As far as I can recollect I have had 3-4 sever P attacks the latest & worst one being in 2008. For now 85% of it controlled (scars not included). It almost takes a life time to understand what is good for your P and what's not. I think I have just started to know about mine!

In my future posts on Yoga, Nature-cure, Health and Wellness I am going to talk more my experiences and self-experiments particularly related to P

I have been a silent sufferer of this disease for last 8 years.I got this when I was in class 9 and only I can really gauge what it feels like when someone gives one of those "looks" or pours suggestions and worse...
I am really thankful that someone took initiative to talk about it.Though lots are material are available on net but people to people talk ,their strategy to fight,their tips and tricks ,experiences are lot lot valuable.

I know that it cannot be treated fully by allopathy(in fact it worsens it),homeopathy(it takes years means years in the multiple of 3)..I have accepted it.So why do so many medical institutes,even specialised ones brag about it.???

Also i am going to start an ayurvedic medicine course for next one and half years that costs some 3500/pm. on the promise that it is going to CURE me all....

Do you think I should play the gamble....???/

Please guide me in this regard...I do not want to fall a prey to marketing faux pass and still want to know more about psoriosis and ayurveda as its treatment plan...

hi guys,

am also from bangalore, i have this disease snce i was 8 , im 40 now, it is incurable, ayurveda does nt cure it, all the docs cheat in the name of making money, what i hav found is you have to sweat like do some exercise cover yourself and sweat, it may help, take lot of black grape juice, it helps in building anti oxidants, if having meat have mutton once a week smal quantity, people say do not have red meat atll, however i fell some zinc is required, overall there is a company called biocon and is expected to bring out a drug for psoriasis in the month of march 2012, so good luck atleast you can live without scaling
