What is the best place to buy an Indian tea?

Post by vitaly_repin »

Hello!

I am going to visit Bangalore this month. Could you recommend me the places where I can buy a good (best quality) indian tea (chai)? I am interested in big leaf black tea (like english breakfast, earl gray and so on) of local indian brands - I want to buy a gifts to my relatives who likes to drink tea and I see no reason to buy something which can be bought in Europe - like Twinings, Lipton and so on.

My last visited city in India was Chennai. And I have found it was quite difficult to buy a good tea - the only option I was able to find was Mlesna tea from Ceylon. Because all the teas I bought in the (normal) food store (TATA, Twinings, something else) were of a very little leafs. In Soviet Union, we called such a tea, "a dust of the Indian roads" :-)

Thank you beforehand.

Good bye!
P.S. Sorry for dupe - I have posted this question to the "Shop" area as well. But I have noticed that usually posts in that area are unanswered.
