like the Apple Student Discounts!

Postby hussain » Mon Sep 07, 2009 11:40 am

I saw the add on newspaper about Apple Mac Student discounts! M planning to get one. The White Macbook which used to cost more than 60 k is available for RS 51700 only!I heard that Apple has limited availability of software so i'm planning to use windows! Apparently they come with dual boot system and that solves the issue! Found the site http://www.apple.com/in/students/ , worth a look!

Good. Apple rarely gives discounts. Its worth paying little more and buy a MacBook as it will last for many years. I have a compaq which is ok but over a period time the battery life has become really short and the AMD processor gets heated up often. Planning to go for something like Mac or Dell next time.

What I can suggest to u is take a look at Acer and dell core i5 and i7 laptops

If u knw neone working in dell they can get u a discount of 10-25% on the laptop.. even if you dont know anyone at dell, someone u know must know sum1 at dell.. a lil bit of networking never hurts

Mac specs

2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 3MB on-chip shared L2 cache running 1:1 with processor speed
1066MHz frontside bus
2GB (two 1GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 4GB
250GB 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard disk drive; optional 320GB or 500GB 5400-rpm drive
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory

These specs are pretty low end today... u can get a dell at these specs cheaper than apple's discounted price
Another reason I can tell u to buy dell, is the after sales service, it has onsite warranty, buy the complete cover warranty for Rs. 1500 extra and you get an awesome warranty, complete part replacemnt on any faults and the repair person comes to ur door within 48 hrs of complaint call..the thing with laptops is servicing them outside is very expensive so this is a gr8 feature of dell, I for one evn bought an extended complete cover warranty, and I am jus lovin it..

Jus my 2 cents

Did you make that up or actually experienced superb(!) service from Dell? There is no place on internet where you hear that Dell has good customer care. So I believe you yourself felt the service to be good.

If you ask me, I HATE Dell for their pathetic customer service. They od not have a customer srvice at all. And the products really sukk. few things to prove your dell laptop really sukks (compare with another brand, say lenovo):
1- loud fan noise.
2- too much heating.
3- cheap lcd screen that creates buzzing noise at certain brightness. Also the screen overheats itself. That's because the lcd back-light tube used in dell's lcd screens are FAULTY. When people contact them about this problem, they say it's normal. One of my old dell laptop's screen got dark at one place due to the heating.

To Hell with Dell
