50th Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava

The Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava is a one of Bangalore's largest Cultural Festivals. There are festivals and then there are mega festivals. In a country that loves to celebrate anything, here is an even that celebrates culture, in an unprecedented scale. The annual Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava, bring Indian culture and performing arts into centre stage in this Global Jubilee year. Over a million people are expected to attend the utsava.

Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava upholds the rich tradition of culture and heritage that is India, through magnificent presentations of music, dance, drama and art by some of the finest artists of the country. The Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava, which has been organized by Shree Vidyaranya Yuvaka Sangha at the APS College Grounds, Basavanagudi, for close to 5 decades, is a major cultural festival of South Bangalore. Eminent musicians, theatre groups and ballet troupes from all across the country have performed at the festival over the years. Celebrities that are gracing this years BGU with there presence are Ilaiyaraaja, Sonu Nigam, Shankar Mahadevan, Sivamani, Devi Sri Prasad, MD Pallavi, V. Selvaganesh etc .

Year after year, over 5,00,000 people gather at the Utsava to celebrate the cultural extravaganza over a period of 11 days. Considered one of the most popular annual cultural events in Bangalore during the Ganesh festival, Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava is a platform to bring together the best of India’s art, culture and heritage to the people of this state. Over 5 decades, the organizers have tried to make this Utsava an occasion to showcase the best of what this country has to offer to the world.

“Sand Art Utsava” this unique festival that bring out the child in everyone with mesmerizing sand artistes in India. The 50 feet sand Ganesha is sure to captivate.

Festivals are never complete without culinary delights. This year too “Aromas of Karnataka ” will add richness to the event by bringing together some of the best known cuisines from across Karnataka on a single platform for audiences to appreciate and savour. Aromas of Karnataka will have individually designed stalls from the six distinctive regions of Karnataka, serving the most delectable time-honored dishes. The stalls would be decorated thematically in keeping with the cultural heritage of each region.

“Ranga Rang -A rangoli utsava” and competition organized along with BGU 2012. Ranga rang promises intense fervour and some friendly competition on Commercial Street to determine whose Rangoli rules them all.
The upcoming 50th Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava is expected to be the largest cultural event that the city has seen yet.
